The Natural Iguana
Due to so little data being available at this time relating to nutrient plant composition I have done my best using what limited sources of information I could find. There will be some foods listed on here where there is no nutrient profile listed or limited data. The reason they are included is only for my own relevance, my own referencing until such a time I can update or otherwise evidence becomes available. Data relating with other herbivore species has led me to the conclusion the items are safe and can be fed.
Iguanas have adapted a more complex feeding strategy compared with omnivores and carnivores. There diet is vastly varied and opportunistic depending upon the time of year. Flowers, buds, petals and blossoms will make up around 5% of the wild iguanas diet and I believe we should make a very serious effort to replicate this, because limited data is available relating to many of these items, it is only in my opinion more of a reason to try and include them. However not every owner has access to the same varieties and we understand this. Still, a few flower varieties could be grow relatively easy on a widow sill or a small patch of garden.
