The more we learn about these wonderful animals the more we recognise just how little we still know. 

We are now past the stage of getting these animals to survive. 

Now we want them to thrive! 

A properly looked after specimen can attain a large size (3.5-6ft)in legnth weigh anywhere between 4-8kg. 

Iguans can live anywhere  up to 15-20 years + 

Despite there ferocious dragon or dinosaur looks, they are herbivores (vegetarians) 

Very few reptiles have demanded as much attention from the scientific community as the green iguana, they are massively complicated and there is still much to learn!

Shaun Dixon is a passionate animal enthusiast who carries an education and  diverse background in keeping, working, breeding and rehabilitating reptiles. He studied animal care level 2 in Newcastle Nacro , pursued CPD certificates up to advanced animal care level 4, A level 3 Diploma in zoology, and a level 4 A level in herpetology with TQUK an OFQUAL awarding body as well as supplemental certificates in animal nutrition, welfare with Edinburgh university. He has further continued his learning with a few supplemental courses such as The biology of brain bugs and beasts, the human microbiome and currently is studying a biology degree. This background has provided him the tools from both an educational and practical keeping viewpoint to deliver the most up to date credibly verified research and seeks to encourage future pet guardians to deliver an evidence based perspective on appropriate welfare practice for one of the worlds most misunderstood species of reptiles.
